Call for Papers:
Issue 26: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)
TVET@Asia invites researchers, scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to contribute to a special issue focused on the theme of The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on TVET.
Scope and Objective:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming industries, labour markets, and education systems worldwide. Within the realm of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), AI offers both unprecedented opportunities and complex challenges. Among these opportunities are AI-driven innovations that personalize learning experiences, enhance teaching strategies, and improve competency-based assessments. For instance, adaptive learning platforms can tailor content to individual student needs in real time. At the same time, complex challenges such as ethical concerns, algorithmic bias, data privacy issues, and the risk of digital exclusion require careful consideration. One pressing example is ensuring equitable access to AI-enabled tools among learners in under-resourced regions.
From reshaping skill requirements and redefining curricula, to revolutionizing teaching methods and learner assessment, AI is set to play a crucial role in how vocational training is delivered and received.
This issue seeks to explore the evolving intersection of AI and TVET. We aim to gather original research articles, theoretical contributions, and case studies that examine how AI technologies are impacting TVET policy, practice, pedagogy, and workforce preparedness. Submissions may critically discuss emerging strategies, ethical concerns, or the broader implications of AI on TVET systems and learners.
Potential areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Integration of AI technologies into TVET curricula and training programs
- Pedagogical innovation and AI-enhanced teaching and learning
- AI-driven assessment and competency evaluation tools
- Reskilling and upskilling for the AI-influenced workplace
- Preparing TVET educators for AI-supported instruction
- Impacts of AI on industry-TVET collaboration and work-based learning
- Equity, inclusiveness, and digital divide in AI adoption
- AI policy frameworks and governance in TVET systems
- Ethical considerations in the use of AI in vocational education
- Case studies of AI implementation in specific vocational sectors including both technology-intensive and traditional vocational sectors
This issue aims to serve as a critical knowledge resource for educators, industry stakeholders, researchers, and policy designers who are navigating the fast-evolving landscape of AI within vocational education.
